Double Ringer Newsletter, February 2026

President’s Pitch January started our year of pitching to a great start.  The New Years Doubles, Sheila Shepard Open and the President’s Open.  Looks like they had a great time.   February starts with Team Colorado. Currently there are  5 teams competing.  February 20 is the CHPA Fundraiser.  Last year’s fundraiser raised enough money to help with the 4 state events.  Monies were used for food, prizes and other miscellaneous expenses which occur when running a state event. For this tournament, trophies/prizes will be handed out instead of cash.  This is a sanctioned event so it will earn you a credit towards state and the World Tournament.  As I mentioned in last month’s DR I am forming committees to help promote and make our sport more enjoyable.  I have not had anyone volunteer to participate.  We need help! There are a handful of people that run our chapter and if we could get a few more it would help with expanding our spor...

Double Ringer Newsletter, January 2026

President’s Pitch Happy New Year! Another year of pitching shoes are in the books.  Let's look at 2026 to reach new goals and take the steps to making improvements to the game of horseshoes pitching! Improvements are being made at the National level with their website and newsletter improvements.  Another is the NHPA will be implementing a new member initiative program.  I do believe it will be similar to the referral program where they had a drawing for members that referred new members.  The drawing had a value of $350 which was won by 2 members last year.  So read the NHPA newline or digest to keep up with this program.  I will do my best to keep up with the latest news from the NHPA and pass it along to you.  Get the word out to those that don’t have access to the internet.   2025 membership only reached 190 pitchers.  This is the lowest in the past 12 years. 2020 had 169 but that was during COVID.  There were 36 new full...

It also means we only have a few more outdoor tournaments and then we head up to Knaub Arena. The 1st indoor tournament will be the Denver Doubles on October 11th. The CHPA wants to congratulate all of the pitchers and winners who attended the 2025 State Single Championship.  A special thank you to the Fort Collins Club for hosting this year’s tournament.  With 16 courts we were able to get in all the games in one day.  Congratulations to all of our recipients of the CHPA awards and Hall of Fame recognitions.  A Big thank you to all the league presidents and statisticians for all their hard work.  All of them volunteer their time and energy to run their club and maintain records to send to eshoes.  I like to see more members involved with how to run their clubs.  We lost a few clubs because no one would step up and fill ...
